Mun Lee appears in good trim
Special correspondent Hastings There was a lot to admire in the condition of Mun Lee when she paraded at the Hastings track yesterday morning and she worked accordingly. The three-year-old filly has obviously thrived since her laststart win at Masterton and should strip a very fit horse for next Saturday’s $lO,OOO Eulogy Stakes at Awapuni. Galloping on a fast plough yesterday morning, Mun Lee went with Sweet Rock and covered 1000 m in Imin 3sec, the last 800 m in 51sec and the final 600 m in 38.4 sec. Mun Lee had a slight advantage over her partner at the finish and appeared to be travelling well within herself. Awapuni candidates which galloped particularly fast yesterday morning were Coruba Gold, Tandarra and Daphne’s Marie. Coruba Gold scampered over 600 m in 36.35ec. He has been
clocking very fast times for some time now and is forward enough to be a threat in the open sprint on Saturday. Tandarra took 49sec to run; 800 m and took himself into consideration for the Tokomaru high-weight and Daphne’s Marie wasted no time over 600 m in 36.1 sec. She is a well-bred filly with plenty of potential. Gold ’n’ Glory finished in front of Irish Duke after 1000 m in Imin 3.3 sec, the final 600 m in 38sec. Gold ’n’ Glory has been a shade disappointing so far this season but gets another chance in the Tararua Handicap on Saturday. The stablemates Sir Gambol and Mr Hawkey worked over 800 m in 50.6 sec, the final 600 m in 38.3 sec. Poissonvolant was sent 600 m on the plough and galloped smoothly throughout to record 37.35ec and Winmaree went well over 1000 m in Imin 3sec, the final 600 m in 37sec.
