Railway shunter killed

A railway shunter was killed while coupling waggons in the Lyttelton railways yards yesterday morning. He was Deryk Thomas Larsen, aged 36, single, of 25 Akaroa Street, Christchurch. The accident accurred about 10.30 a.m. on a section. of track behind the wheat silos on the No. I breastwork. Mr Larsen was dead by the time the police and a doctor reached the scene. Railway officials said Mr Larsen was struck on the head by a projecting log on one of the waggons while he was bending to shackle the wagons together.
