General Foods into N.I. scallop trade
Whangamata, on the Coromandel Peninsula, has been put on the map in the fishing industry by becoming the country’s newest scallop port. General Foods, Ltd, has just installed a blast-freezing plant to handle 400 kilos of scallops a day for national distribution, and three trawlers are now working fulltime out of the port, ARRIVALS Coastal Trader (7.2 a.m.), 2928, Capt.
