Blenheim marksman wins at W. Melton
The Blenheim marksman, Peter Buckingham, won the Canterbury rifle-shooting championship on the West Melton range at the week-end with a championship aggregate of 319.29.
It was Buckingham’s first title win and his effort was a commendable one when it is considered that yesterday’s competition was held in abysmal conditions with both a cold, gusty wind and squally shower prevailaing. The weather, in fact, prevented the 900 yard events from being shot. Instead, it was decided to start yesterday with another 600 yard shoot followed by each shooter firing 15 shots from 300 yards.
