NZPA Brisbane Queensland scored a record 25 Sheffield Shield points when it defeated ’Victoria by five wickets in a I thrilling conclusion to their match in Brisbane. The Queensland batsmen John Mac Lean and Philip Carlson were mobbed bv a cheering crowd when they left the field after the match. Queensland was set the target of scoring 115 to win lin 30 minutes plus 15 overs and scored the winning run with 2.4 overs to spare in deepening gloom illuminated by severe lighting flashes. Scores. — Queensland 401/9 declared and 117/5 (David Ogilvie 53, Mark Gaskell 43: A Hurst 3/33) beat Victoria 242 and 273 (Julian Wiener 106, Trevor Laughlin 77: G. Dvmock 3/53, G. Whyte 3/31). At Perth Western Australia beat New South Wales by four wickets in their Sheffield Shield match.
