Sutherland returning to S.A.
I pa Blenheim The former All Black Alan I Sutherland will return to i South Africa for the next irugby season as coach for : Witwatersrand University in Johannesburg. Sutherland, who has been jvisitihg his home town of Blenheim, says he will problably play for the university teain also. But he sees his ; playing days numbered, as >he " has a" “very suspect’ I knee. “I would not hate plated if I’d been here.” he said. Sutherland, who first went Ito South Africa in 1970 and ’then again with the All Blacks in 1976, last season ! was national player-coach for Rhodesia. He described his full-time coaching job hvith the Rhodesian Rugby [Board as “different” but not i something he would like to do all the time. However, he feels his coaching experience w ill '“open some more doors" for him. South Africa provides I more opportunities for him than there are in New Zealand.
