Bexley Rd swamp may be filled
Swampy vacant land in Bexley Road—where rubbish has been dumped and rats reported—might be filled sooner than expected.
A nearby property developer, R. G. Mauger, Ltd, has offered to start filling the planned reserve within the next two or three weeks.
The work, worth $20,000, would be done in place of a reserve contribution from a Mauger subdivision proposed next to the unformed reserve.
The plan was recommended yesterday by the Christchurch City Council’s parks and recreation committee.
In the meantime, a blocked drain found earlier this month has been cleared, which should improve drainage on the land.
