Nomination fee waived

Special Correspondent Dunedin

The Otago and Waikouaiti Racing Clubs have received the approval of the Racing Conference to dispense with nomination fees. The acceptance fees, introduced at the Otago Club’s spring meeting on September 24 and October 1 will be $2O for flat races up to $4OOO and $l3 for all jumping races.

The fee for races over $4OOO will rise by $5 per $lOOO of stake.

Previously a nomination fee of $4 was charged and acceptance fees ranging from $6 for maiden events to $2l for open races. There is a saving for owners who sometimes pay several nomination fees without gaining a start and for the club in postage and bookkeeping costs. The system, adopted by the Waverley Club for its meeting in October, received support at the annual meeting of racing club secretaries.
