Whitebait run

Greymouth reporter Provided the present extended spell of fine weather continues, prospects for the opening of the whitebait season on the West Coast tomorrow appear promising. Big shoals have been seen moving up the Grey River over the last few weeks, and prospects also

appear good in South Westland. However, some rivers there are low at present. Shoals have also been seen frequently in the Buller River. Sales of whitebait nets in Greymouth are reported to be on a par with last year. One firm reported selling nine new frames, and expects to sell about another 25.
