Player's season ends early

A city rugby club, Sydenham, has banned for the remainder of the season a player ordered off twice this season.

M. Lio, a third grade player, did not appear before the Canterbury Rugby Union’s judicial committee last evening, but it had been advised that Sydenham had taken its own action.

“We applaud this action,” the convener of the judicial committee (Mr J. G. Mullins) said to the management committee but the union will still impose its own penalty when Lio appears before it. A University third grade l player O. Hulme, ordered off | a month ago, served a self-] imposed penalty of four weeks. He failed to appear before the union, because of a misunderstanding until last evening, and was given no further penalty.
