Soroptimist award announced

The award of a scholarship to Miss Harata Hunga, of Rotorua, was announced at the annual meeting of (Soroptimist International of (New Zealand South, in Christchurch at the weekend. The scholarship is awarded by Soroptimist International of New Zealand North and South to enable a part-Maori girl to advance her education to tertiary level. Miss Hunga is now studying at the University of Canterbury.

Officers elected at the annual meeting included the following:-- President, Miss Nancy Waters (Nelson); secretary, Mrs Jillian Powerey (Waimea) and treasurer, Miss Claire Ford (Nelson).
