Panther leader back in U.S.
NZPA-Reuter San Francisco The former Black Panther Party leader. Huey Newton, has returned to California ifrom exile and has been Taken to jail on murder and assault charges dating back to 1974. Newton, who is 35, was ;mobbed by several hundred! supporters' when he arrived from Vancouver. He told the crowd: “I have returned to continue; my commitment to work for, progressive change in our I society. When I left this J country, I was aware of a conspiracy to murder me I and to destroy the Black Panther Party.” He added: “Now I am
