Demirel’s turn to pick team
NZPA-Reuter Ankara’ Turkey has been plunged into another government crisis. i liamentary defeat for Mr Ecevit. The vote in the 450-seat National Assembly was 229 to 217 against Mr Evecit. Mr Demirel is expected to try to renew the Right-wing coalition he led in government until last month’s General Election. But hard bargaining is expected, particularly with the former deputy Prime Minister, Mr Necmettin Erkbakan, leader of the stronglyislamic National Salvation Party. Mr Erkbakan joined with Mr Demirel and the ultraRightist, Mr Alpaslan Turkes, leader of the Nationalist Movement Party to topple Mr Ecevit, but he has not yet agreed to join -the two others in a new coalition.
