The Marine Division of the Ministry of Transport has decided to sell the vessel, in spite of protests by the Westport Harbour Advisory Committee, because its running costs of $15,000 annually are considered to be too expensive. Marine Division officials feel that the workboat C. F. Schadick (alongside) will be able to do harbour-bar soundings until a replacement probably a launch is found for the James O’Brien.
