Islafax injured

Islafax one of the best three-year-olds’ to race in Southland this season, was sold to the United States at a high price a few weeks ago. but is unlikely to race again. The Tempest Hanover gelding was purchased by Mr Brian Meale of the Central Standardbred Agency, who said that Isafax was injured in his box when in quarantine in the United States. “He suffered puncture wounds to a shoulder and also a broken bone in the shoulder.” said Mr Meale. “There is no chance of him ever racing again.” Islafax. which beat Sapling and Belmer’s Image in the Tanoueray Stakes at Gore in April, was a member of Rav Todd s Wyndham team. A gelding, by Tempest Hanover from the Van Dieman mare. Shoalhaven, he was raced by Mr and Mrs Ken McRae. of Waikaia. Mr Meale said that the Honest Master mare. Still Faithful, winner of the Southland Standardbred Breeders’ Stakes, had been * winner In the United States. "She is one which could develop very smart form,” he added.
