Trial Bid strong chance at Wanganui today

Special correspondent XV ellington Last night five entrants for the Whyte Handicap at Frentham remained in the field for the Simmons Handicap, feature flat race at the EgmontAVanganui Hunt Club's meeting todav. But all fix e mav have to concede victory to light-weight Trial Bid.

The Whyte candidates, Master Morgan. Ragham, Alwick. Court Prince and Shenanigans, ail have sound form to back them today but Trial Bid’s three wins from four starts in the lower grade look just as impresPatience with the Test Case entire has paid handsome dividends. He is in his fourth season of racing anti today he will be having only his twenty-third start. This season he resumed at Marton in January. He won his second start a month later in high-weight company at Wanganui. Another month later he failed at Trentham over 1600 m. His next start on May 7, resulted in a win at Trentham and his only othei start, three weeks and a hall after that, was a narrow but game success at Levin under 57kg. He has drawn well today and from the minimum should show appreciation of the weight relief. Ragham won impressively at his first start back from Australia at Foxton in May. He was clearly superior over the 1200 m on the day. Rag ham hit top form in Australia around the 2000 m journey and after Foxton ran a useful fourth at Rotorua over 2160 m. It was almost a month before his next anti most recent start, when un placed at Tauranga (2100 m after appearing to have every chance. His chance: must be respected today stepping back to 1600 m.
