PA Ashburton The top seeded Peter Haddad (Otago) won the men’s open singles title at the southern district squash tournament played at Ashburton over the weekend. In the final yesterday he beat Barrv Gardiner (Timaru Celtic), 9-3 9-1 9-6. The 'women’s open final was much more closely contested, with Kathy Graham (Burnside, Christchurch) fighting hard to beat Merle Holland i&umner'. 94 3-9. 9-1. 5-9 9-1. More than 100 competitors from the southern districts area, which covens the South Island south of Ashburton as well as central Christchurch players, took part In the two-day i tournament.
