Help for A. and P.
The Canterbury 7 Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s funds have been boosted considerably 7 by r a special appeal to its members to give the association a helping hand after the difficult time it has had with a series of fires and then bad weather during the last show, which resulted in the association ending last season with a deficit of $17,563. When notices were sent out for subscriptions a note went along from the president seeking an additional donation, and this was also addressed to life members.
Up to almost the end of last month this special appeal had resulted in $10,326 coming forward. There have been donations of up to $3OO and quite a number of $lOO. Of the 1189 annual members who had paid their subscriptions up to May 27, 677, or almost 57 per cent, had responded to the special appeal, and of the 744 life members 185. or almost 25 per cent, had sent in a donation The result has been a considerable improvement in the association’s liquidity position.
