Soccer, racing bet wins

NZPA-Reuter London Liverpool’s victory in the European Cup final in Rome won one lucky English punter over £20,000 from 9 four-way bet with a leading bookmaker.

The punter placed a £5O accumulator bet in March which depended on Red Rum winning the English Grand National steeplechase, Liverpool wanning the English

first division title and the European Cup, and Manchester United clinching the English Football Association Cup. Liverpool’s 3-1 win over West Germany’s Borussia Moenchengladbach for Europe’s major club prize clinched the final leg of the bet.

The winning odds were Red Rum 12-1, Manchester United 7-2, and Liverpool 7-4 and 6-4.
