Five die in blaze in hotel
NZPA - Reuter Brussels ■ Five persons were killed,’and about 20 injured, yester-i day when fire flashed;' through a six-storey tourist;' hotel in central Brussels. Rescue workers said that! the death toll might climb. | Eighty firemen used!; escape ladders to rescue!' about 200 people from the blazing Due de Brabant; Hotel, a favourite for for- ! eign coach-tour parties. Other hotel guests jumped ! out of windows to the pavements below. The dead and injured have not yet been identified, but; firemen said many of the)! guests were British and West German tourists. ' Firemen say that many of;! the injured were hurt when!, they jumped out of win- 1; dows. Two men were injured!, when the sheets they had 1 ' tied together into ropes;' parted, and they fell heavily ' on to the pavement. '
