Five scientists honoured

Three Canterbury men are, among the five newly e elected fellows of the Royal ] Society of New Zealand. | The are Dr G. Jenkins, ail reader in paleontology at their University of Canterbury; Dr R. I. Dr Skinner is- the first engineer to be awarded the Doctor of Science degree by the University of Canter’ bury. He is on the council of the world body for earthquake engineering. Dr Wardle’s research has been in the ecology and evolution of New Zealand vegetation. He has done botanical surveys in the North and South Islands and is also a member of the Westland National Park Board. Professor R. J. Ferrier, of Victoria University of W-1-lington and Dr J. I. Hubbard of the Otago University school of medicine were also elected fellows of the society.
