Talks off but no air strike

PA Auckland There is no threat of further direct action by NAC pilots in spite of the failure of a conference in Wellington last Friday to reach agreement, according to a New Zealand Airline Pilots’ Association spokesman. The talks were an attempt by the association and NAC to settle their differences over a 10 per cent wage claim by the pilots. No more talks were planned, the spokesman said, and so the issue would now be decided by the Air Crew Industrial Tribunal (Mr R. K. Davison, Q.C.)There was no threat of the pilots’ reimposing the withdrawal of good will that delayed NAC flights two weeks ago, because they had agreed to allow Mr Davison to resolve the issue-
