Cripples of the future kept in mind
Fourteen thousand young j people may be crippled to j some degree in car accidents: in the next five years, say, the Crippled Children Soc-! iety. “Road accident figures ] show that more than 80,000 Jieople under 24 will be inured in road accidents in the! next five years.” said a i spokesman for the society/ Mr Richard Offer. “About i 28,000 will be serious, and half of these will call on the resources of the Crippled Children Society.” The society will hold Crippled Children Week, its annual funding drive from May 23 to May 28. Mr Offer said the society needed money to help people injured in sporting and domestic accidents, while maintaining its support for the growing numbers of people with congenital, orthopaedic and neuro-muscular disorders.
