National’s manifesto
Sir, — I was startled to read in “The Press” (April 20) that Mr Muldoon claims that the National Party’s Manifesto was not National Party policy at election time. Like me, others must have assumed this document to be a statement of policy from the party, and voted accordingly. If, as Mr Muldoon says,
the Manifesto is a “thing”, purely speculative in its contents, could someone explain whence such speculation came, on whose initiative and why? — Yours, etc., KATHIE WATSON. April 20, 1977.
