Kiwi Can to regain winning form

, Special correspondent Auckland As they did in the Easter Handicap on Saturday horses around the top of the handicap will probably dominate the finish on the $lO,OOO Champion Stakes, the i big event when the Auckland autumn meeting continues today. Only the intervention of Vice Regal prevented the first three in the weights taking all first three placings in the Easter. One of them Kiwi Can. heads the I field for the Champion Stakes and in spite of his 58.5 kg he seems certain to run well, as do Magistrate and Prepak. Kiwi Can. now eight years old. took the Champion Stakes, a 2200 m event in 1975, right on top of his Easter Handicap win. With luck he might have won the Easter again on Saturdav, certainly he showed himself verygood still even if perhaps needing a bit more distance than the 1600 m. Given a clear run all the wav Magistrate' would have finished closer than fifth in the Duty Free Handicap at Tauranga. He finished second the time before, at New Plymouth, and third, three starts back, at Trentham, so he is due to win again. Selections
