No change in selection methods
PA Wellington Existing selection methods will be maintained .for future New Zealand Olympic and Commonwealth Games i teams.
The annual meeting of the New Zealand Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association rejected a five-point proposal to improve selection of teams. The New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association sought to abolish the present three-man selection panel, and for individual snorts to nominate .heir own competitors.
But in spite of unrest and disenchantment over what had been considered incompetent selections for Montreal, the meeting rejected the proposals on a ballot by 42 votes to 28. The chairman of the association. Mr C. L. S. Cross, said he was not opposed to changing a system if a better one could be found, but he did not think that the athletic proposal was better than the existing one.
