Cancer publicity
Sir.—Two articles on cancer have appeared in your paper this week, a subject which should concern the majority of New Zealanders, but of which we seem to read, hear, and talk of very’ little. It is tragic, but true, that most people are entirely ignorant of the fact that cancer may be cured if caught in time, and time is a vital factor. The lack of publicity given to the awareness of this disease is appalling. Nowhere have I seen any type of information in poster form advising people of what signs to look for in detecting cancer. Why do we not have informative posters on our public transport, more television and radio information? Then the old belief that “it won’t happen to me” will diminish. — Yours, etc. MAUREEN KNIPE.
