Book in demand

“The Press” is receiving more than 1000 orders a day for “Royal Progress,” the colour pictorial review of the visit to New Zealand by Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh. Orders are pouring in from all over the country, and the total exceeded 11,000 last, evening. The book, which will be printed on high-quality art paper, will contain more than 30 pages of colour pictures of the tour, and 20 pages of specially commissioned articles to commemorate the Queen’s jubilee.

The authors include Basil Boothroyd, Robert Laceyy Lord Bailantrae, and Godfrey Talbot.

“The response has been tremendous, and we have even received requests to post copies overseas,” said the book’s editor, Mr L. R. Bloxham, last evening. “There is no doubt that ‘Royal Progress’ will be a sell-out. We have already received more orders than we had for the same period before we published ‘Games Review’ in 1974.” he said. Mr Bloxham has begun editing the first colour films of the tour taken in the North Island by the chief photographer of “The Press,” Mr Des Woods.

“The pictures I have seen so far are so magnificent and exciting that I am finding the process of elimina-

tion exceedingly difficult,” Mr Bloxham said. “Royal Progress” will be the first (and only) complete colour record to be published of the tour. Any copies left after meeting pre-publication orders will be on sale from most booksellers and “The Press” from Monday, March 7. “The Press” is ensuring that pre-paid mail orders are given priority, and special arrangements have been made with the Chief Post Office in Christchurch to receive this mammoth posting at 6 a.m. on March 7.
