Hospital parking
Sir. — I am writing about the complaint about the use by the Hospital Board of the bridge near the boat sheds for the entry of ambulances to the new block. The Hospital Board is doing a good job under difficult conditions, and is the best judge of what actions to take. Why is there no concern among complainants, about the safety of nurses coming off late duty, and about adequate parking for their cars in a well-lit building? There is also a need to fight the fanatics about the temporary use of a small portion of unused parkland for outpatients and day-staff cars. The park belongs to every citizen in Christchurch, not a privileged few. There is no need to cut trees down: just shift the fence back a few feet. — Yours, etc., M. J. WRIGHT. February 21, 1977.
