Day’s kill lost
Butchers and labourers employed at the Islington works of Waitaki-New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd, returned to work vesterdav after taking Monday off. The company’s works man-1 ager (Mr G. Nuth) said that the company had lost a dav’s! kill because of the action. He: said it was not clear why the; workers had walked off and; the union representatives! were not available. They are attending their annual conference in Tirnaru. The labourers apparently walked off when they received no assurance that they would be paid while the butchers were having a stopwork meeting.
