Three tries fail

PA Nelson Rough seas have thwarted three attempts by a Nelson pleasure boat driver. Garry Phillips, to get from Bluff to Dunedin. He tried for the first time on Saturday in rough conditions which he expected to improve as he went further along the coast. He had to put back, however, and did so after tw'o more attempts during the weekend. On one run he covered 20 miles before turning back. His tiny craft Solo N.Z. needed minor engine repairs in Bluff after a rough voyage from Preservation Inlet arounl the south-w'estem tip of the South Island.
