Royal tour today
The 12-day tour of New Zealand by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh starts today when the Royal Yacht Britannia anchors off Auckland at 9.30 a.m. An official ceremony of welcome will be held once the Queen and the Duke have landed. The Duke will start a yacht race later in the morning, before the
Queen and he attend a civic luncheon In the afternoon both will attend a young people's gathering at Ellerslie Racecourse. The Duke will later present gold awards to those who have gained them in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme. A dinner party and reception will be held on Britannia in the evening.
