Avant out of hospital
The accomplished Christchurch motor-cycle road racer, Stewart Avant, who was admitted to Timaru Hospital on Sunday after a bad fall in a race at the Marlboro meeting at the Levels circuit, was discharged yesterday afternoon Avant, aged 21, who was second in the international series before his accident ruled him out of both races and dropped him to fifth, was badly bruised in the crash and was still feeling sore yesterday. The young Christchurch rider is still hopeful of competing in the final round at Ruapuna this Sunday, although it seems certain that Pat Herman (United States) will win his third successive series.
