Cricket to Ashburton
The Ashburton Cricket Club beat the visiting Sydney club, ManTy-Warringah, by one run in an exciting finish at Ashburton yesterday. Manly-Warringah batted first and scored 156/9 in the 40 over game. The Ashburton batsman, L. Stoddart, scored two runs off the last ball of the match to win the game for his team. Scores: Ashburton 157/9 (G. Eddington 36; A. Steele 5/34, R. Bremmen 2/29) beat Manly-Warringah 156/9 (G. Hill 37, F. McGogan 35; B. Kinsey 2/24. M. Tawley and M. Elliott 2/27).
