Sponsorship specialist
Greater promotion and development of sport through increased financial assistance from sponsors is the aim of New Zealand’s only company specialising in sponsorship of recreation and sport. Sports Sponsorship, Limited, formed in Wellington, has two well known sportsmen as directors. Bryan Wilson has been a professional sports coach and co-ordinator since 1965 and has practical experience with a
number of sports. He is also managing director of his own sport and recreation consultancy. Robert Smith has played first class cricket for several years, has an accounting background and operates his own sales and marketing agency. The third director is Grant. Common, a public relations consultant. “With, additional leisure time for recreation and sport, finance is becoming an increasingly important factor’’, said, Mr Smith. “Our aim is to provide additional funds so that recreation and sports bodies throughout New Zealand can provide greater opportunities for their members.”
The prime function of the new company is to recommend, arrange and handle all aspects,of sponsorship deals > ’ between companies and sporting bodies.
