Lunar Chance in splendid trial for Miracle Mile
Lunar Chance firmed in l favour for the Stars Travel: Miracle Mile on Saturday! night with a scintillating run at the Addington trials! yesterday. After being! checked at the start he settled near the tail of the! field, but at the end he won quite easily. Felix Newfield sprinted Lunar Chance up three wide from the 1500 m and he got in before starting the final 800 m, although he was still in the open just behind the pacemaking Ad Infinitum. Lunar Chance just coasted over the final 200 m to win by a length and a quarter. | The time for the 2600 m was 3:24, but Lunar Chance was timed over his final 2400 m! in 3:3.2, his last 1600 m in, 2:1, the final 800 m in 1:1,f
and the !ast 400 m in 28.6. He looks ready to run the race of his life on Saturday, his first in the interests of Mr Bruce Woods, who has leased him and is training him.
■ Eclipse (sixth), Bolton: Byrd (seventh) and Master! ■ Dean (eleventh) were other Miracle Mile candidates ini the trial. ■ Eclipse ran on quite well! ■ for his placing, just ahead of Bolton Byrd, which made up: a good six lengths in the straight. Bolton Byrd, too, looks, in great heart for Saturday’s big test, his first in the top company. Master Dean made a shocking start and settled near the tail of the field. He was timed over his last 2000 m in 2:32, his final 1600 m in 2:1.6, and his last 400 m in 28.8. He was not jextended and was running on strongly. The mobile ■ start on Saturday will suit jhim and his meeting with jLunar Chance should be a ■ highlight of the season.
Warragamba, close up all e the way, did well to hold on z, for second behind Lunar if Chance. He will be a chance s in the A. G. Jamieson Stakes g on that performance. 1 Ad Infinitum, in the milei
IS. J. Moore Stakes on Satur!day. also showed speed to hold on for a close third. (not far ahead of Gay Tennessee and Barley Bree. both jof which look fit for their engagements at Saturday’s! I meeting. THREE-YEAR-OLDS ! Rustic Zephyr made no [race of the event for threei year-olds and, on top of his I Derby success, he will be a firm favourite for the New Brighton Stakes on Saturday. He started from the second line and settled back in the field, John Noble imi proving sharply with him | from the 600 m. He was with (Lordable at the 400 m and raced right away to win by (seven lengths in 3:28.6, the past 800 m in 1:2.4, and the (final 400 m in 30.6. Our Location held on fori second, just ahead of Radi- 1 ant Mac and Lordable, which: tried to lead for the last 1900 m. Royal College showed < promise to get up for fifth,! 'ahead of the tiring Kotarel Charger. Lord Module showed that! he will have to be reckoned: with in the Festival Stakes! on Saturday when he out-' sped his rivals in the parade' for two-year-olds. He won: by three lengths after trailing Beaufort to the straight. He recorded the smart time; of 2:40.9 for the 2000 m, the: (last 800 m in 1:2.2, and the final 400 m in 30.2. Montini Bromac came on solidly to cut Beaufort out of second by a length, with a similar margin back to Don’ Linger, which shaped attractively. Glide Time, Sir Robin and Our Holiday finished clear of the others. Results:—
