’Sportsman of Year" James Hunt
The world champion racing driver. James Hunt, has been elected Britain’s Sportsiman of the Year in a poll of members of the British Sports Writers Association. Hunt totalled 792 points in the poll. Second with 712 points was John Curry, who won the Olympic, world and European figure-skating championships this year, and third with 629 points was David Wilkie, the only nonAmerican to win a gold medal in the men’s swimming events at the Montreal Olympic Games. Hunt, who clinched the world motor-racing title in the final race of the championship series in Japan last month, is only the second grand prix driver to win the poll in the 27 vears it has been held. The first was Jackie Stewart in 1973
