Flight for treatment

A man who was seriously injured in a car accident near Tauranga on Saturday was flown to Christchurch by air ambulance yesterday for treatment.

He is Peter Charles Conder, aged 20, of Rawhiti Street, Matamata. Mr Conder was transferred to a waiting St John ambulance at Christchurch Airport, and was later admitted to the spinal unit at Christchurch Hospital. His condition last evening was described as satisfactory’.

Mr Conder was one of three men injured when., the car in which they were travelling left the * Waihi Road near Bethlehem at 6 p.m. on Saturday, climbed a two-metre bank, and struck a telephone pole. Mr Keith Ellis, aged 20, of Taipari Street, Tauranga, was admitted to Tauranga Hospital with serious injuries and Mr Peter Bryenton, aged 19, of of Maitland Street, Tauran was treated and discharged.
