Aid for school hall urged
Financial aid for kitchen and toilet facilities at the Waltham School Hall — which already doubles as a community centre — was urged yesterday by the Cits Council’s social services committee. The school committee has already provided $2500 towards the building of such extensions. Another $12,50f is required. Some unspent social ser. vices money might be committed this year towards completion of the project, but any more would have tc wait for the April estimates. To build the hall itself the school committee anc the community raised $lB,OOO, and received i $lO,OOO subsidy from the Canterbury Education Board. In other business, the committee was told that construction of the WainoniAranui Family Centre should start this week. The nearbj Youth Activities Centre in Wainoni Park was completes recently, and communitj workers have organised i working party of local parents and older children t( paint the outside walls.
