Bill hearing to be open

PA Wellington The Labour Bills Committee will be open to the press during submissions on the controversial Industrial Relations Amendment (No. 3) Bill, which outlaws political strikes.

The chairman of the committee, Mr J. F. Luxton (Nat., Piako) told Parliament yesterday that it had resolved to be open to accredited journalists at its own discretion. Earlier this week the Opposition spokesman on industrial relations, Mr A. J. Faulkner (Lab., Roskill) criticised the committee’s original decision to hear submissions in private.
