Vice Regal strong fancy in Guineas

Most will regard Vice Regal as a “leg in” for T.A.B. treble backers when the brilliant Cambridge colt goes after Wellington Guineas honours at Trentham tomorrow.
The $15,000 classic for three-year-olds occupies the place of honour on the Wellington spring programme. The attractions of the glamour Melbourne races are all too obvious in the make-up of the feature handicap fields at Trentham, but the talents the three-year-olds will bring to bear on the Wellington Guineas should supply some compensation. Vice Regal goes into the Wellington Guineas, second leg of tomorrow’s T.A.B. treble as winner of his last three races, which include the Great Northern Guineas. The Auckland Racing Club’s classic was easy for him, and if he wins or goes satisfactorily again tomorrow the Cambridge-owned and trained Bismark II colt will be at Riccarton for the New Zealand Two Thousand Guineas on November 6. “He will definitely go to Riccarton if he does well
In the meantime and we would hope we could take him south by air,” Mr J. W. Campin, trainer and partowner of Vice Regal said yesterday, "He’s a good colt, competent In any track conditions and adapts easily to different circumstances in the running of his races,’’ Mr Campin said. Other races of the T.A.B. treble tomorrow are the Heretaunga and October Handicap No. 2. The Heretaunga Handicap looks wide open, but most will be looking to Membership, Quaestus, and Stylish Sovereign to dominate the finish of the October Handicap No. 2.
