Linwood Avenue wins bowling
Linwood Avenue B was a convincing winner of the recently completed A grade inter-club indoor bowls competition and thus retained the Hays Trophy. Windsor A, the winners of D grade, won the Northcote Trophy for most fours wins, while New Brighton R.S.A. A took the Foote Trophy for the most wins in pairs games. The E grade winner, Spreydon School took the Penfold Trophy for the most wins in singles games. Lola Hegan (Quinns Road) won the Williams Trophy for the individual winning most singles games but had to survive a countback with Ron Quate (Halswell). C grade (C.B.A Bank Trophy). —Woolston W.M.C. A 129, Halswell 123, Fernleaf A 100, Fernleaf B 97, St Peters 94. Richmond W.M.C. A 90, Aranul 82, Richmond W.M.C. B 69. D grade (A.N.Z. Trophy).— Windsor A 116. St Martins 111, Quinns Road B 110, Linwood Avenue D 105, Alex Harvey 100, Windsor B S 3, Banks Avenue 84, Bishopdale 60.
