Schoolgirl assaulted by youth

A 14-year-old girl was knocked to the ground and indecently assaulted as she walked home along Memorial Avenue last evening. The incident happened at about 7.30 p.m., as, the girl was walking past Bumside Park. She was approached by a youth who threw her to the ground. He then indecently assaulted her. Her assailant is described as being a European youth, aged 15 or 16, with light brown shoulder-length hair. He is of medium build and was wearing a dark brown jacket with a light blue round-necked jersey underneath. He had dark trousers and was wearing red highheeled shoes.

Police searched the area, but the youth was not found. They would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the incident, or may know the boy’s identity. The girl was not injured in the assault-
