Cup horses arrive safely
NZPA Sydney Fifteen of New Zealand’s top cup hopefuls and theiri attendants landed at Tulia-[ marine after a hazardous flight. The flight took an hour more than expected and was a nightmare trip, according to Colin Jiilings, a trainer Battling strong headwinds, the plane was running low on fuel and thought was given to changing course for Sydney “It was a little hair-rais-ing,” a relieved Jiilings said later As well as the elements Jiilings had an even bigger worry with the mare, Perhaps, which suffers from claustrophobia. At the end of the trip he had a badly grazed left hand after trying to calm her down Along with two three-vear-old stablemates, Perhaps was taken to a property at Officer which has a private training track Her New Zealand jockey, Brian Andrews, will arrive in Melbourne next Sunday The stablemates, Suleiman and Happy Union, travelled well and Bill Winder was pleased with their condition The top New Zealand jockey. Bob Skelton, has yet ■to decide whether he will make the trip to ride either ■Suleiman or Happy Union The Ray Verner-trained pair Good Lord and Rosie’s: Heir were also taken to the Officer property The Australian registrar has ordered that both horses have their names changed during their Australian stay While they are in Australia Good Lord will race as My Good Man and Rosie’s Girl as Our Rosie’s Girl
