Local govt explained
The Christchurch Town Clerk (Mr J. H. Gray) is on the verge of publishing a booklet on the working of local government in New Zealand. Mr Gray, who will leave soon on an overseas study tour of local bodies in Great Britain, Canada and the United States, will have the first, edition of 150 copies published privately as a pilot project. The booklet will cost $2. If it is well received, Mr Gray told councillors, he might produce a revised issue next year and have it set in type. Further revisions could be made when needed. The booklet was written in his own time, with council typing services. Future issues would not be typed within the office, he said.
