Corwar Estate

Sir, — It seems that every so often quite a lot is written about the history of the Corwar Estate at Barrhill, arid of the present buildings. I think that perhaps the little lodge-keeper’s building is probably unique, and the only one of its kind in New Zealand. Surely it is time that the Ashburton Historical Society took over this building. Mr McLachlan gave the land and Mr and Mrs Curd gave generously to the restoration. The society would be taking over land and building at no cost, and I am sure there are many people who would be prepared to provide suitable furniture etc., if the place was properly looked after. — Yours, etc., R. G. MAUGER. September 13, 1976.
