Raids net 12 arrests
Twelve persons will appear in the Christchurch Magistrate’s Court this morning as la result of early morning Iraids bv the police yesterday. 1 Detective Superintendent ,E. G. Perry said the raids (were the culmination of inItensive inquiries into a large number of recent burglaries. More than 30 police from both the C. 1.8. and the uniformed branch took part in the raids, which started at / a.m. The number of burglaries being committed in Christchurch continues to rise, and many during the last weekend have been reported. The sum of $4BOO in cash was stolen from a butcherv in New Brighton on Saturday night. The lid of a floor safe was removed after entry had been gained through a back door. Christch u rch College. in

A stereo worth $450 waa stolen from a house in Oram Avenue on Saturday night. (Two portable televi>ion sets, ■ one colour, were stolen from la house in Office Road on Fri. dav night. Thev are worth I $740. A house in Haasi Street 'was broken into on Saturday (night and a stereo, a watch, clothing, and perfume to a 'value of $3OOO taken.
