Maori seats not to rise
PA Wellington The Government has decided to ensure that there are no more than four Maori constituencies when the 1978 General Election is held. ; The Prime Minister (Mr Muldoon) said at a press conference yesterday that the ■Cabinet had instructed the law' draftsman to prepare an amendment to the electoral Act for introduction to Parliament as soon as possible. He said the amendment would implement National Party election policy on the Maori constituency question and was in line with National Party opposition to Labour legislation on it.
