Sevens win to Hamilton
Canterbury University failed to make the National final of the Lion Middlesex seven-a-side rugby tournament at McLean Park, Napier at the week-end. The final was won by Hamilton Old Boys who beat Blenheim Old Boys, 20-12, after leading 14-0 at halftime. It was the second successive year that the Blenheim team "has finished as runnerup in the tournament. Pool points were: Pool A: Blenheim Old Boys 6, Canterbury University 4, Palmerston North Teachers* College 2, Petone 0. Pool B: Hamilton Old Boys 6, Otahuhu. Ngatapa, Southern (Otago) 2. Surf life-saving.—A trust to help finance training activities in surf life-saving throughout New Zealand has been announced In Wellington. The first activity assisted bj’ the trust will be a two-day powerboat training school for surf life-savers to be held at Piha Beach, from October • to 10.
