Reason for rejection
PA Wellington The Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Templeton) said on Tuesday that he had been informed by the Broadcasting Council that both television channels acting independently had rejected an anti-nuclear advertisement featuring Spike Milligan in script form because the whole tenor of the advertisement had given a partisan viewpoint on a controversial subject. In reply to a Parliamentary question from Mr E. E. Isbey (Lab., Grey Lynn), Mr Templeton said that by “partisan” he meant that the advertisement contained the view of one particular party in a dispute. The day-to-day running of the two television channels was not the concern of the Minister of Broadcasting, he said.
